American Bison Buffalo Sterling Silver Christmas Ornament 1987 Hand and Hammer #0777. Historically the American Buffalo or Bison was the main source of sustenance to the plains-dwelling tribes Westward expansion and settlement slaughtered millions of buffalo and the species became endangered so that in 1900 only 300 remained alive. This ornament was reproduced from the animal immortalized on the Buffalo nickle.
 
The size is about 1-1/2″ Tall by 2″ Wide. It was produced by Hand and Hammer Silversmiths in 1988. Made in the USA.
